During the Special Board Meeting on Monday, April 3, 2023, the board approved the appointment of Dr. Griff Powell as Interim Superintendent for the 2023-2024 school year, effective immediately. Dr. Powell will be working with Mr. O’Daniell for the remainder of the school year to allow for a smooth transition. The board also hired Dr. Cathie Pezanoski as a private education/executive search consultant.
Dr. Powell brings over 10 years of experience as an Interim Superintendent, with some of his most recent positions held at Oak Park School District 97 and DeKalb School District 428. With more than 40 years of educational leadership, Dr. Powell brings a wealth of knowledge and is excited to support our community for the upcoming school year.
“I look forward to working with staff and the board of education as the board takes on one of the most important decisions they can make [hiring of a Superintendent],” said Dr. Powell.
The Board of Education plans to work on a search process for a new Superintendent to begin working on July 1, 2024. The Genoa-Kingston School District will continue to communicate with the community as details come together.
