All eyes are on the GKHS volleyball team as the team last year left a legacy for future generations. For Coach Foster, this year is going to be different - “it is going to be about us,” he said.
At one of the team's first meetings the team set goals and talked about the future. After the goal setting, coach Foster handed out t-shirts and on the back of them was the word “US”.
“They [volleyball team] understand and appreciate how much the community supports their efforts. It's unparalleled in anything I’ve seen. With that being said, this year we want to play for each other and not let any extrinsic pressure negatively impact our season, we just want to compete, together, and enjoy the process,” said Foster.
“This season, the goal is to play together and win the next point,” said Foster. “We are going to compete, work together and have fun. We don't want to rest the success of our season on a state finals berth. Sure, we’ll work for it, but the season will speak for itself, regardless of the outcome”
While going to state would be another awesome experience, the team is excited to have a fun season and to make everything about the moment. As the 2022 team left a stamp and legacy that will last forever, Foster is excited to see what the 2023 stamp will look like. “This year, it’s about US.”
