Embarking on a journey in golf starting in eighth grade, one high school student's passion for the sport has led her to achieve the remarkable feat of making it to the state level.
Aleia Lauer started her journey in eighth grade, making a pivotal decision to leave softball behind and take up golf. Despite facing a dislocated knee, she exhibited resilience, bouncing back from injury and dedicating herself to the game. Her commitment and hard work paid off as she reached sectionals during her sophomore and junior years.
Preparing for the state-level tournament involves more than just physical practice. Mentally, our golfer adopted a positive mindset, emphasizing that participation itself was a significant accomplishment. To reinforce this mentality, she spent time on the range before the tournament, ensuring she was in the right headspace. Lauer faced unique challenges - on the first day, battling challenging weather conditions, she had to make a crucial cut to continue. The second day, however, was a joyous occasion, marked by the realization that she had successfully secured her place in the tournament.
With her coach being her father, Lauer highlighted the importance of his guidance. From ensuring her swing was correct to providing valuable drills, her coach and dad played a crucial role in her success. She drew a lot of inspiration from her dad and thanks him for his guidance.
