We are finishing up our wonderful unit on Greek Myths. The students have such a fun time with this unit and are always engaged with each story. This quarter we will begin our next novel study, “Number the Stars”, which is about the Holocaust. We encourage you to talk to your student about this very sensitive subject!!!
Writing
In writing we have gone over persuasion, narrative and expository essays. The kids have done a great job with all three and are improving on their word choice and organization every day!! They are perfecting their extended responses in preparation for PARCC as well!
Science & Social Studies
In Social Studies we will begin state reports, more information about this will be provided after Spring Break. Along with learning about many different states, the students will be able to use their creative side to make a float for our share fair. It is a very exciting time of year!
Math
We are full swing into fractions!!! Fractions can be such a difficult topic for students, please reinforce what we are learning at home as much as possible. All fourth graders should know their multiplication facts by now. If your child has not mastered these facts, please do flash cards or an online game every night!! Thank you for all your help!
